“Keeping it honest and keeping it real.”

As the second semester of the 2017-2018 school year kicks into gear, Hagan Wells and John Janes are tackling student government using this motto.

The senior class recently elected Wells as class president and Janes, vice president.

However, in addition to working to fulfill the needs of the senior class, they also intend to tackle any issues that may affect the entire student body.

“We are going to start thinking about what paths we are going to take and what issues we are going to focus on once the monthly meetings get started,” says Wells.

Wells’ promise throughout his campaign was to not make any promises he could not keep, but to instead take everyone’s concerns into account, and do his best to meet those needs.

“I just want to be here to support the senior class in whatever changes they want to make,” says Wells.

While he is very open to suggestion from his fellow students, he does have a few ideas in mind to make the graduating class’s senior year great. He is taking some of his predecessor’s successful ideas into account as well.

“One of the ideas last year’s president, Andrew Clark, had was to create a prom playlist,” Wells says. “I thought that went very well, so I intend to do that again this year by collecting songs from seniors.”

He will be accepting requests through his social media accounts up until prom.

Janes is also very excited to take on the role of vice president. “I am looking forward to working alongside Hagan this year,” says Janes, “I am hoping we will be able to make some positive changes to make this a year to remember for this year’s seniors.”

The two will work together for the rest of the school year to help voice the opinions of not only the senior class, but all of GRC, all the while keeping it honest and keeping it real.
