During the 2000s the digital camera was an iconic thing to have, every celebrity, every influencer, every person owned a digital camera and created memories that would last forever. Enter, the invention of the iPhone. Digital cameras were pushed to the back and a spotlight shined on the iPhone. More and more people started ditching their digital cameras and started using their cell phones to capture pictures. Until now, there has been a sudden resurgence of digital cameras due to kids finding their parents’ old ones. Many teens and young adults, specifically, are rearranging their Instagram feeds to be centered around a more retro style that comes from these cameras. However, many people are still in support of the iPhone and believe that it, quite frankly, produces better photos.

Retro, nostalgic, and aesthetic; that’s what comes from a digital camera. Digital cameras produce 10 times better pictures than an iPhone could ever dream of. While iPhones give you the clear details of a picture, digitals offer a more aesthetically pleasing picture to the viewer. With iPhone cameras, the lighting is always terrible. It always creates a dull lighting that takes the colorfulness out of the photo and focuses more on the “realistic” details. On the other hand, a digital camera highlights the vibrantness of a photo and makes the photo more colorful without having to add a filter or edit it. Digital cameras are no iPhone 16 by any means, but that is the beauty of it. Digital photography produces beautiful vintage photos that resemble candid photos. iPhones create lifeless pictures. They take the soul and beauty out of pictures leaving you with a result of polished, social media shots. Digital photos leave you with airy, authentic photos that make you look like you are living in the moment.

iPhone cameras are better than digital cameras for a multitude of reasons. First, an iPhone camera is more convenient than an old digital camera. With digital cameras, you have to download the pictures afterward, which is a pain. Half the time, the friend that brought the camera takes a million years to send the pictures, meaning your Instagram post is not even relevant by the time you get the photos. Using your phone means that you have the pictures readily available in your camera roll right after you take them and can share them instantly to your friends. Plus, digital cameras are another thing you have to carry around in your bag during your hangouts. Digital cameras are unreliable and can often take blurry pictures, while iPhone cameras automatically enhance your images. iPhone cameras have the capability to zoom in way more than a digital camera ever will. All of these reasons obviously add to the fact that iPhones are better than digital cameras.
