The GRC Marching Band had an incredible showing at the Bands of America East Tennessee Regional, placing 5th overall out of 25 bands.
GRC finished second in its class of 10 bands in preliminary competition Friday, before advancing to finals Saturday and scoring an 83.3 for 5th place. BOA hosts the nation’s top band competitions.
“I am proud of the hard work the band has put in to continue to maximize our show,” said Director A.J. Cook. “They competed in a tough BOA Regional against much larger bands and still finished in the Top Five. This is a huge accomplishment and I’m excited to finish our season with the same energy this upcoming Saturday at WKU.”
GRC will end its 2023 competition season Saturday, Oct. 28, in the Kentucky Music Educators Association State Marching Band Championships at Western Kentucky University’s L.T. Smith Stadium. GRC will take the field in semifinals at 11:30 a.m. in Class 5A, the state’s largest class. Finals for all classes will be held Saturday evening.
