Addison Baber is a crown collector. The newest addition to the GRC senior’s accumulation happened Friday night when she was named 2023 Pike County Bowl Queen.
Along with nine other contestants, Addison competed in the 38th annual Pike County Bowl. Every year community members gather for their fall tradition in the mountains.
While Addison is excited for this new platform she has been given, she is also grateful for the people she met along the way.
“I became best friends with all of the girls involved. We spent from 11-8 together with no phones,” says Addison. “This helped us build a strong connection and truly be a part of a sisterhood. The group of contestants was so welcoming and genuinely happy for each other and all of our accomplishments.”
Before the crowning, Addison had a busy day full of interviews and meeting community members.
“First I had a luncheon with the judges, representatives from Community Trust Bank, the chairman of the Pike County Bowl committee, and all of the queen candidates,” explained Addison. “Then I had a five-minute interview, panel style, with the judges.”
Addison, and her fellow contestants, were introduced during halftime at Belfry’s CAM Stadium. There was then a crowning of the new 2023 Pike County Bowl Queen: Addison Baber.
“I received a crown, a sash, a scepter, and a scholarship from the Community Trust Bank,” said Addison. “I was totally shocked when they announced my name. It is such a huge honor to represent George Rogers Clark and win this title.”
