Students place in state French showcase
Students Zach Gibson and Josh Vitai excelled in the Kentucky World Language Association state showcase for French.
Zach placed 2nd and Josh placed 3rd in the trifold board category of projects among intermediate learners.
For the French Interpersonal speaking rating, the students got an Intermediate High (Zach) and an Advanced Low (Josh).
On the National French Exam, the two received a bronze rating on the level 4 exam, indicating that they ranked in the 75th percentile for the exam.
“I was honestly surprised and really happy with the results I got because it took me a really long time to get used to the French language and it felt really good to finally get recognized on something I worked really hard on,” said Josh. “After learning the language for such a long time, it just made me feel really good about myself.”
“Even when I did really well in French 1,” says Zach, “I consistently underestimated my ability with the French language and to have some external confirmation that I actually know what I’m doing is really nice to have.”
