Senior year is the year every student looks forward to. However, many don’t know about the hands behind the dances and new opportunities: our senior advisors. Mrs. Newton and Mrs. Osborne have been working hard to make this year an unforgettable experience for all involved.
These best friends are always making sure they are staying on top of deadlines, plans, and requirements students may need to meet in order to participate in the fun activities.
“We get more enjoyment out of working with seniors and planning things for seniors like Senior Sunrise, Senior Sunset, and Graduation, and doing that with your best friend makes it all the better,” Newton said.
Mrs. Osborne said that she has fun doing anything when it’s with Mrs. Newton.
“As long as you work with your bestie, it doesn’t matter if it’s something fun, if it’s a daunting task, or if it’s something that’s going to take us forever to do,” Osborne said.
This year, Newton and Osborne have started teaching seniors exclusively, allowing them to communicate with most seniors easier and form strong relationships with each graduating class.
“We absolutely love working with them and seeing the excitement as they are getting ready to start this next chapter in their lives,” Newton said.
Mrs. Osborne loves getting to know the seniors and helping to make their last year fun and memorable.
“We’ll always remember their last year of high school with them,” Osborne said. “We both remember our senior years and we’re like ‘man, that was one of the most fun years of our life.’ We want to try to make sure that that happens for all these kids.

Knowing Mrs. Newton and Mrs. Osborne outside of GRC, I always hear them talk about how they love all their “babies!” My mom, Mrs. Newton, tells me “I swear I love that kid like he’s my son or daughter!” Needless to say, having a sister and brother alone, I’ve adopted MANY brother and sisters since my mom has been a teacher at GRC the last 14 years.
