The Clark County Public School System has so much potential that goes unnoticed. The main mission of the District Intern Team is to shine a light on different people and groups in our school system. District and Community Relations Coordinator, Shanda Crosby, has selected three high school students for the 2025-26 school year to make this goal possible: Karlee Gray, Bailey Howard, and Erin Southwood.
“Our main goal is to share the greatness that Clark County has in their school system,” said Gray. “We go around all of the schools and share their stories to everyone in the community.”
Since the internship’s start in 2022, one of the main focus areas has been the education of both the students in the district and the students on the team.
“It’s a tremendous learning experience for students to travel to all the schools and learn about the district as a whole,” said Crosby. “They develop essential skills in professionalism and communication in a real-world environment.”
The team is continuing to teach students important life skills and unique lessons that will better prepare them for their futures.
“We hope to continue growing greatness in students as they experience media, marketing, and communication on an all-encompassing, multi-faceted level,” said Crosby. “It truly is a powerful learning experience that will help them throughout life, specifically with bigger picture thinking.”
With the many different stories and people in our community, they have a wide variety to choose from.
“I love that Mrs. Crosby gives us the freedom to cover what we think needs to be covered,” said Southwood. “She even gives us the choice to cover it how we think it would be best represented, whether that be a written story or video projects.”
The District Intern Team brings Clark County closer as a community by creating an outlet for stories and people to be showcased. There are so many bright lights shining in our students, teachers, and administrators that are now going to be illuminated because of the work that they are doing.
“I love going out and interacting with all of the different kids,” said Howard. “I am so excited and thankful for this opportunity!”
