7 am sunshine, bright colors, and warmer weather.
Waking up to sunlight shining through your window instead of total darkness can boost anyone’s mood and help them to start the day off right.
As spring is approaching, so is that rush of serotonin that comes with the seasons changing. As we start to branch out of hibernation from this long, cold winter it’s very important to start finding ways to branch out of your comfort zone and get involved with everything going on at GRC or just finding simple things to do in the community.
If you are a sports fan and enjoy playing or watching sports, GRC offers many opportunities for both. GRC’s spring sports include track & field, baseball, softball, and tennis.
As these sports seasons are approaching, they are all welcoming new coaches to their coaching staff. If you participate in these sports then that allows you to be involved with your team.
However, if you are not a student athlete and are still wanting to be involved, supporting is a great way to do so. By showing up at these teams’ games/matches/meets you show the team great support which is very much valued by the players, coaches, and their families.
If you are not as much of a sports fanatic as others are, then there are many other ways you can get involved and occupy your time.
If you are looking to stay around GRC you can join clubs and be a part of all of the amazing things they do for our community. BETA club offers many volunteer options that provide you with many different ways to meet new people and help out Clark County. If you are an animal lover, our Paws and Claws club is collecting donations for animals in need.
If you are just looking for ways to get out and find something to do that does not involve school, I would recommend going on walks with friends or even by yourself if you prefer some alone time. Going on walks can be very peaceful and help to gather yourself and just enjoy spring’s arrival.
If you are looking for adventurous possibilities, I would suggest checking out the hiking trails around. The Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge located in Slade, which is about a 45-minute drive, are definitely top picks. They give you the opportunity of getting out in nature and getting to see some pretty incredible views.
On the other hand, if you are a shopaholic like me, then Spring is the perfect time to shop. My personal favorite places to go when the weather is warmer is the Summit, the Hamburg Plaza, or the Simpsonville Outlets.
f you would rather stay in town, you could spend your day shopping in Winchester helping to support all of the local businesses our community has to offer. I would 100% recommend checking out TJMAXX and Five Below which are still pretty new and a big hit in our community.
You can just take a day to walk around and shop. If you are looking to save money, then just going out and taking pictures with your friends can be a fun alternative.
If you as a person are more into arts and entertainment, I would recommend checking out our school’s upcoming spring play that has been in the works for months.
In addition to the school’s play, there are some pretty awesome events happening at Leeds Theatre on Main Street that could provide a fun and entertaining afternoon or evening to spend with friends or family.
Any day that the weather is warmer, being out and about is always the best option.
This past Kentucky winter has been long, so soaking up the sun and warmth should be a top priority as these spring days are approaching.
You can never go wrong by spending these days with the people you enjoy doing the things you enjoy the most.
