Julie Bonfield named assistant principal
Even as a child, it never occurred to Julie Bonfield to be anything but a teacher.
Her lifelong love for education now has brought her to GRC after spending the past seven years in Clark County Schools.
Principal Jamie Keene has named Ms. Bonfield assistant principal, a position opened with the departure of Jill Angelucci.
“I am most looking forward to working with the amazing staff at GRC and being around the students,” says Ms. Bonfield. “I have missed being in a school building the last two years and look forward to getting back to the purpose of why I went into education in the first place – the kids.”
Now in her 22nd year in education, Ms. Bonfield spent 13 years in the classroom, was an instructional coach for three years, became assistant principal for one year and head principal for three years at the elementary level. For the past two years, she was director of state and federal grants for CCPS.
She brings her curriculum expertise to GRC and says she looks forward to working with teachers to provide high quality instruction. “I am a team player and will do whatever else is needed to make sure our school is successful,” she says.
Her new position is a perfect fit after two decades across the education spectrum. “My heart has always been with teaching and being a support to students,” she says. “When I was young, I never wanted to be anything else. I enjoy creating lessons that engage students and collaborating with colleagues who have the same vision and goal.”
Ms. Bonfield says she is particularly excited about GRC’s culture. “The atmosphere of ‘ALL IN’ is what I am looking forward to most,” she says. “The students, teachers, parents and staff have made this place what it is and I am so thankful to be a part of it.”
Mr. Keene says the entire administrative team looks forward to serving alongside their new colleague.
“We are excited to have Ms. Bonfield as part of our team,” he says. “She brings a lot experience that will be helpful as we continue to strive for excellence. She has a passion for education and building positive relationships is very important to her. I can’t wait for our staff and students to meet her. In just a short time, she is already ‘All In!’”
Mr. Bonfield and her husband of 13 years, Patrick, have three sons – Logan, Brooks and Baylor. They enjoy spending time on their farm and at the lake.
