Boys’ Soccer advances to title game

GRC’s boys’ soccer team advanced to the 39th District Championship Thursday at Cardinal Stadium with an 11-1 win over Bourbon County Tuesday night. With their 11th straight victory, the Cards moved to 15-2-2 on the season.

The Cards will face Montgomery County, which handed GRC one of its two losses, beating the Cards 3-2 in double overtime on Aug. 29 in Mt. Sterling.

It was all GRC in the opening round Bourbon County contest with goals scored by Skyler Hamon (3), Emidio Figueroa, Brandon Beltran (2), Dylan Reffett, Tyree Brown, Ryan Sosa, Taylan Hayes, and Conner Brown.

Tuesday’s win ensures the Cards a trip to the 10th Region Tournament, which will be played at either Montgomery County or GRC, depending on who wins the district championship. The boys’ region will be held the week of Oct. 14.
