Cardinals Fall to Madison Central in Final Home Game

After two consecutive losses to district foes, the Cardinals looked to bounce back and take down the Madison Central Indians for their first district win.

The Offense for the Cards never found its rhythm, and the stout Indian defense held GRC scoreless through the first half. A turnover on the first play of the game led to an early Madison Central touchdown.

The defense had their hands full against a powerful Indian offense. Madison Central took a 20-0 lead into halftime.

The second half showed signs of improvement on both sides of the ball.

On defense, GRC looked much better, allowing only two touchdowns. The Cards forced a fumble as well, however the offense was unable to capitalize off of the strong defensive play.

The Cardinal offense broke through the Indian defense in the fourth quarter. Pearce Nisbet threw for two touchdowns, putting the final score at 34-14.

For GRC, the last home game of the season didn’t go according to plan. However, the Cardinals hit the road next week for the season finale at Bourbon County. Coach Lucas will look to finish with a 5-5 record in the regular season.
