GRC Taken Down by Tates Creek

Following a tough loss to Lafayette, the 4-3 Cardinals looked to bounce back and pull off their first district win. Tates Creek came to Winchester, ready to do battle.

The Commodores came out of the gates hot, scoring on their first two possessions, leading 14-0 halfway through the first quarter.

However, the Cardinal offense came right back, scoring a touchdown of their own, off of Pearce Nisbet’s pass.

The defense improved from there on as well, only allowing Tates Creek a field goal the rest of the half.

GRC trailed 17-7 at halftime.

Early in the third, Tates Creek capitalized on a Cardinal turnover and pushed the lead to 24-7.

As the half continued, the offense stalled, and couldn’t find much traction against the determined Commodore defense.

GRC would end up on the tail end of a 31-7 final score.

The Cardinals fall to 4-4 on the season, with the final district game next week against Madison Central. The Indians, another tough opponent, are also 4-4, coming off a victory over Lafayette.
