At some point in the first semester, everyone begins to develop their go-to weekday routine and for a lot of students, that involves school clubs.
As the new school year begins and these routines form, clubs start to roll back into student’s academics.
A key player in a well-thought-out and planned club is its sponsor, and this year, the Beta Club has introduced its new lead sponsor, Katherine Griffith.
For the past six years, Amanda Mills held the position, and for the past three years, Mrs. Griffith has worked alongside her as the co-sponsor.
Upon leaving, Ms. Mills left a great legacy that Griffith is hoping to maintain.
Beta officers have already recognized Mrs. Griffith’s effort and determination. “She has stepped into the new role by taking on more responsibilities and demonstrating proactive leadership,” says Club President Priya Patel.
Ms. Mills has held open arms in helping Griffith prepare for her fresh start leading into this school year. “Ms. Mills is still very much involved since I am continuously texting and calling her with all kinds of questions,” says Mrs. Griffith. “She is helping me transition into this new role and I couldn’t do it without her help.”
Mrs. Griffith is ready and ambitious to make this year a productive one for all members.
“I plan to grow the club and fully support what the officer’s goals are for the members,” she says. “The officers have a ton of great ideas that we are working through.”
Mills is confident that Mrs. Griffith has everything covered. “I know the club is in great hands,” she says. “Mrs. Griffith and all of the officers will be able to keep the Beta Club strong and fun for all those involved.”
With her prior years of experience being the co-sponsor, Griffith isn’t short of familiarity with the club’s system and activities.
She has helped with all sponsor activities including conventions, leadership conferences, sponsor meetings and working as a collaborator with many club events and fundraisers.
“Mrs. Griffith has been taking several steps to prepare for the year,” says Priya. “For the club as a whole, she has been organizing meetings and events, setting goals, and ensuring all necessary resources are in place. For the officers, she has been providing training and guidance to help us understand our roles, responsibilities, and how to effectively lead the club. This preparation helps ensure a smooth and successful year for everyone involved.”
Griffith has expressed her passion about this new change in many ways but specifically keyed in on prior connections with students that may be involved in the club.
“I’ve had a lot of the members as my own students so I’m excited to get to stay in contact with them as they grow throughout high school,” she says. “I look forward to working with the students to make this a great year.”
