Our Cardinal Café staff is awesome!

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) serves nearly 30 million children every school day. National School Lunch Week is being celebrated October 9-13, 2023.

Celebrate this week with us as we commend and thank our wonderful Cardinal Café staff for all they do.

Olivia, a junior at GRC, is a fanatic for some rolls and peanuts from Texas Roadhouse. Her goals this year are to maintain her 4.0 GPA and be a safe and responsible driver on her way to school. If she were to be in any movie, she would visit the last scene of Starstruck so she could meet Sterling Knight.  When she’s not at school, she’s most likely doing ballet with friends at her local studio. She thoroughly enjoys a Sunday (or any day of the week) nap. Her all-time favorite day of the week is Thursday, simply because it’s Domino's Day!

McKinley is your average 16-year-old teenage girl. She loves coffee more than most things in life, specifically an iced mocha from Daily Grind. McKinley loves listening to music and finding new artists and songs. Some of her favorite artists are Mac DeMarco, Phoebe Bridgers, Gracie Abrams, and of course, Taylor Swift. Her absolute favorite activity is marathons…movie marathons especially Harry Potter. She enjoys going to her youth group on Wednesdays and hanging out with her friends and family in her free time. Her favorite season is fall and she argues that it will forever be the best season. This year, McKinley hopes to meet new people and grow her skills in Smoke Signals.

My name is Owen Rainey, and I am a senior member of the Smoke Signals staff. I play soccer for GRC and am involved in Beta Club and National Honor Society. I love being active and staying in shape, but I don’t necessarily like lifting weights. I’m more of a calisthenics kind of guy. I believe pineapple on pizza should be classified as a federal crime. I’m an only child and, but somehow the dog is my parent’s favorite. My proudest accomplishment is being the “voice” of a child with Cerebral Palsy, Lane Hartzel. My greatest claim to fame is having my shirt in a commercial. There are a lot of different things that make me who I am, and this is just a small part of that. Also, shoutout to Ryan Jackson.
