“The effort that was given this game was unbelievable,” says Coach Matthew Abner. “This is a special group of girls and they keep amazing me. Can’t wait to see what they can do on Tuesday.”
The Lady Cards also came away with 8 selections for the All Region teams. Seniors Shannon Ramey, Meaghan Curren, and goalkeeper Laura Martin along with Freshman Allie Bush were all selected to 1st Team All Region. Haley Hannan, Taylor Kelly, and Delaney Manning were honored with 2nd Team All Region. Leslie Hernandez received 3rd Team All Region honors. The girls also have the 10th Region Offensive Player of the Year, Shannon Ramey, along with the 10th Region Defensive player of the Year, Meaghan Curren.
“Regional Championships are always special and we don’t forget how hard it is to win the 10th Region Championship,” says Abner. “I also want to thank all the families, students, administration and the Winchester community for all their support tonight.”
The girls will have yet another chance to show the home crowd what all they can do on the field when they play their State-Semi game against reigning State Champions West Jessamine Tuesday Oct. 24 at 7:00. The Lady Cards played the Colts to a 1-1 draw earlier this season.
