Softball Team Names New Coach

Following the naming of former GRC softball coach Matt Puckett as the new head GRC baseball coach in early September of this year, the softball team became in need of a new head coach. After a month of interviewing possible candidates and searching for the right fit, a new softball coach has finally been named.

On Thursday, it was announced that former Madison Central head softball coach Daniel Rogers will fill the position.

Rogers coached at Madison Central for eight years and was 11th Region Coach of the Year in 2016 before taking a year off from coaching.

“I left Central because my little man was born, so I was kind of done, but then this spot opened up and I just had to go for it,” Rogers said.

Rogers “just had to go for” the GRC softball coaching job because “GRC is one of those schools I always kind of compared to Kentucky basketball; it’s like the school where you want to be.”

GRC softball has made it to the State Tournament two times in the last four seasons, so with a multitude of returning players and this stellar coach on their side, watch out for the Lady Cards to bring home some more trophies in the years to come.
