Through five games, the GRC football team is 3-2, and in impressive form. The best start for the Cardinals since 2010 has been sparked by a multitude of stars all over the field.

Nitavius Thomas ranks second in 6A in rushing yards, with 692. Thomas also is second in touchdowns scored and scoring. He has 11 touchdowns and has scored 66 points so far this season. Nitavius has been a prime factor in the success of the offense, and with his touchdowns, the unit as a whole has been brought up.

On the defense, multiple Cards rank highly in 6A too. One of these, Jehdon Jenkins, leads 6A in total sacks, with 8. Helping Jenkins on the defense is Tre’Von Jones, who ranks second in interceptions, and Austin Blair, ranking tenth in tackles with 51.

The special teams unit also stands out. Will Marsillett ranks second in average punt distance, at 31.8. Tye Boyken also ranks in the top ten in kick scoring. Boyken’s 15 points put him at seventh.

GRC looks to continue to stand out from the competition on September 29th, when the Cards host Boone County.
