Girls’ Soccer Streaks to 6-0
The girls’ soccer team has gotten off to a good start with a 6-0 record. The team traveled to Gatlinburg, TN, to take part in the Smoky Mountain Cup last weekend. The girls beat three teams, all from Tennessee, going undefeated and winning the whole tournament.
In their first, the girls beat St. George’s (Collierville, Tenn.) 3-2 with goals scored by Allie Bush, Leslie Hernandez and Shannon Ramey.
“After going down 2-0 we finally found our feet after the long bus ride and started to play,” said Coach Matthew Abner. “We found a way to win even being down 2-0.”
In their second game, the girls beat Rossview (Clarksville) 3-1 on a hat trick from freshman Leslie Hernandez.
“Leslie Hernandez put together a great scoring effort to help her team win the game,” Abner said.
In the final game the girls played White House, cruising to a 9-2 victory. “It was an exciting weekend,” said Abner. “It was nice to win this tournament with the level of competition we had to face.”
The girls look to continue their undefeated streak Tuesday away at Corbin.
