Many people set their sights on one dream and chase it. For Teigh Yeast, she is chasing two dreams at the same time.
Yeast is a multi-sport athlete and is involved in the Health Science pathway at GRC. She has recently committed to Robert Morris University for both basketball and their nursing program.
Teigh’s hoop dreams are nothing new; she has had these aspirations since she was a little girl.
“I’ve had a love for basketball since a very young age and I have always dreamed of playing at the next level in basketball,” said Yeast. “It’s been a huge part of my life for a very long time and I honestly don’t know what my life would be like without it.”
While Yeast is a tremendous athlete, she has wanted to make a difference in other people’s lives as long as she can remember.
“Being in the medical field has always been something that I have wanted to be a part of,” said Teigh. “I have always felt a calling to help others and the impact that you can make on many individuals’ lives.”
Having two big dreams like Teigh does takes a lot of effort and dedication.
“Balancing basketball and my aspirations in the medical pathway is not always easy,” said Yeast. “It takes a lot of work and sacrifice, but because I have big dreams both in basketball and in the medical pathway I work my hardest in both and strive to be the best.”
Just as basketball requires everyone to support each other and push them to be the best version of themselves, the Yeast family does the same things off the court.
“My parents and sister have been the biggest help in my athletic journey! Without my parents’ support and being there for me every step of the way I wouldn’t be where I am today,” said Teigh. “My sister, Timber, has also been huge as I have had the pleasure to watch her grow and she has pushed me to be the best version of myself.”
With all of the dedication to her dreams, the hard work put into all of the aspects of her life, and the help she has behind her, she has found the perfect college for Teigh Yeast.
“Robert Morris stood out to me because of their coaches, the environment, and the nursing program,” said Yeast. “From the time I stepped on campus to the time I left it just really felt like I was already a part of the family. I know that I’ll be with people who will have full support of me, allow me to be myself, and push me to be the best version of myself on and off the court.”
