On the weekend of September 18th, 2025, Beta Club President Amber Goulet, Vice President Steven Yang, Secretary Lilliann Sands, and Historian Olivia Houston traveled to Wilderness of the Smokies in Sevierville, Tennessee, to attend the leadership summit.
At the conference, the officers participated in various events and sessions to further their leadership skills pertaining to Beta Club in particular.
“The officers competed in two different events at the leadership summit,” explained Beta Club sponsor Mrs. Griffith. “They also sat in on two leadership sessions where they met other Betas and learned how to expand their roles in our club.”
Throughout the process of competing and sitting in on seminars, the leaders were able to gain knowledge on how to refine their leadership qualities and make the club run smoother.
“Enhancing these abilities will allow them to lead the club more effectively, plan better events, and create a more positive and productive club,” said Mrs. Griffith.
The officers will carry this experience into the school year in how they apply the knowledge they gained in all of their clubs, specifically Beta Club.
“I will take what I’ve learned through the school year by working more efficiently with my officers to reduce complications within my clubs,” said Goulet.
Due to their great success at the leadership summit, GRC’s Beta Club officers will be progressing to compete at the national level.
“They were in the top 3 and qualified for Nationals in the events called Collaboration Connection,” said Mrs. Griffith.
While the officers spent a lot of time learning about leadership, they also got to spend time bonding and making memories with each other.
“My favorite fun memory with my other officers would be going through the Smoky Mountain Rampage at Dollywood after telling them it was a calm ride and we wouldn’t get very wet!” said Goulet.
