GRC Hoops Advance to Regions as 40th District Champions
It’s a 4peat!
Is anyone really surprised? With a 24-4 season, no one was shocked to hear that the Lady Cardinals basketball team took win after win in the district tournament and are on their way to the regional tournament.
Senior Elizabeth Hardiman has been playing basketball since she was in the sixth grade and has had the dream high school career.
Her team has won the district tournament the past 4 years and they don’t show any signs of slowing down.
“Winning just gets sweeter each year,” says Hardiman. “I’ve gotten to play with these girls my whole basketball career and my team means everything to me,” she says.
Playing on the team has shaped Hardiman into the person and the player she is today. “Playing on this team has taught me a lot about life. I’ve learned about communication, team work skills, and leadership,” she says.
Hardiman will be playing college basketball and volleyball at Transylvania University next fall. “I’m excited for the challenge and getting to improve my game,” she says.
At press time, the team was scheduled to play in the 10th Region Tournament Monday night. “I’m very confident in my team and believe we will get the job done,” said Hardiman. “All the girls work really hard.”
If the girls win the regional tournament this will be the Lady Cardinals’ 10th regional win, their last one being in 2014.
