“C-L-A-R-K C-O-U-N-T-Y Clark County! Clark County! Let’s Go Cards!”
The George Rogers Clark Cardinals are the heart and soul of our community. The spirit and pride of being a cardinal fan brings our community together like none other.
Many people have been supporting Cardinal Basketball for decades. GRC Basketball fans are devoted and committed to supporting our student athletes no matter what.
GRC Hoops Scorekeeper Eric Smith has been attending games since he was in junior high school.

“I love sports and when you have a team in your home town that has been so successful for so many years you really can’t help but to want to come see how they do,” said Smith.
Our basketball program is well-known throughout the Commonwealth. It’s a big deal to come face to face with the GRC Cardinals.

“Clark County is well respected and highly thought of because of our historically winning program,” said WinCity Scorekeeper Mike “Bear” Rogers. “Everyone knows they are in for a battle when they play us.”
Mike has been attending GRC games since 1968. He continues to support our Cards because he loves basketball and working for one of the top five programs in the state of Kentucky. He also has a vast knowledge of the history of all things concerning Clark County Sports.

Superfan Perri Wilson has a very different reason for supporting our team after all of these years.
“As one who never played a sport, I enjoy the thrill of the competition, I embrace the joy of victory, which isn’t always who has the winning score at the buzzer,” said Perri. “I love supporting our youth!”
Whether you were born and raised in Winchester/Clark County, or you are a newcomer, you can feel the electricity and excitement in the GRC Arena when the boys and girls teams take the court. These superfans are along for the ride to away games with the Cardinals as well.
The support from a community like ours is extremely rare and special. We should all be thankful to have such a beautiful village that we get to call home.
Make sure to show your support at the rest of the basketball games this postseason. It will for sure be a tournament season you don’t want to miss.
As Mrs. Wilson says, “Our program is successful for a number of reasons: Coaching staff, school system, training facilities, and of course, THE FANS.”
