Lifelong friendships, Bible studies, devotion time.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes is looking to grow in size and popularity. This club is about keeping a Christ-centered relationship with your teammates, coach, and our school and the community. FCA huddle groups are held every Tuesday at 7:45 am in Room 605.
Jeremy Wasch, one of the Central Kentucky area FCA reps, has helped to get FCA jump started at GRC. He has been a part of FCA’s growths in our area. He does a great job explaining the importance of FCA and why people should come.
“With athletics becoming a billion dollar industry, almost every student is either currently involved or has been involved in sports at some point, so sports are a wonderful mission field,” he says. “FCA’s vision is to lead EVERY coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus. FCA desires to instill these principles into everyone’s service, teamwork, excellence and integrity.”
Wasch says sports the platform through which the message is shared even though non-athletes are welcome. “Students DO NOT have to be on an active roster to be involved in this community, but understand that athletics will be a connection point,” he says.
Healthcare pathway teacher Rebecca Prater is one of three teachers helping with FCA at GRC. She also leads an all-girls small group on Wednesday mornings in her room.
Many female students at our school have been impacted from their mornings with her. The group is welcome to students and staff and meets at 7:45 every Wednesday morning in Room 235.
“It is such a gift to spend time with young women who love the Lord and desire a deeper knowledge of the scripture,” said Mrs. Prater. “I get to watch them lead others while following Jesus.”
GRC FCA was invited to the “Fields of Faith” at Madison Central High School in November. Fields of Faith was a special FCA-centered worship night where students from eight different counties came together.
One of GRC FCA student leaders, Caroline Brookshire, had the opportunity to share her testimony and how God has won in her life. Joining FCA has made an impact on her life.
“It really helps me to start my day off right and allows me to be a light to my friends and other people,” says Brookshire. “It also helps me to have a positive outlook on my day and life and just be a happier person.”
FCA helps teach athletes about how to be more bold in their relationship with Christ on, and off the field. It can bring a whole different aspect to sportsmanship. All students are welcome to join FCA, no matter if you are an athlete or not.
