GRC has always been determined on setting their students up for success.
Offering so many career pathways allows students to either begin a career or get experience leading to one.
From working at educational programs for children to interning at a law firm, it is safe to say that this generation of GRC students have a large amount of work experience under their belts.
I visited with a few of our students to see what kind of jobs they are leaving school to do.
Layla Snell:
My co-op job is very unique in the fact that I get to see what it’s really like to be an agriculture teacher. I want to go to college for agriculture education so this is the perfect first step into seeing if that’s what I really want to do. I like that I get to be in the classroom and be hands on and help set up labs for different classes like an actual college student teacher would. Having a job at school allows me to save money on gas because my job is right here at school. I’m very thankful for this unique and special opportunity that I was given by the agriculture department.
Emma Overton:
I do co-op through the Early Childhood Education Pathway at the Rowland Arts Center. I love co-oping at the RAC because it allows me to combine working with kids and gaining hands-on experience. I’ve always wanted a career involving children, and this co-op gives me the chance to pursue what I love. This experience is helping me build the skills and confidence I need for my future career working with kids, and it’s inspiring me to continue in this path as I grow older.
Cole Ledford:
I am a legal assistant at Rowady Hendricks Law. This job interests me because my requirements here are very fun. I draft documents for clients, conduct legal research, manage client communication, organize case files, etc. This job sets me up for the future because I am building a network of professional contacts, like attorneys, paralegals, and judges. Knowing these people will 100% be useful for me in the future. Not to mention I get free lunch every day. This job is absolutely where I want to be right now. I can’t imagine myself working anywhere else.
Cole Horn:
For my co-op I work at Winchester Chiropractic. I have grown up with Dr. Williams and have always thought very highly of him. This workplace gives me good business experience which sets me up for college where I will be majoring in business management. I love getting to meet all of the patients and build up my resume to set me up for the future. During my hours at the practice I do various tasks such as setting patients up on electroshock therapy or Normatec machines and taking care of patient cards.
