The FFA’s three-star rating is the highest that the FFA Organization can bestow, and for the second year in a row, our very own Clark County FFA Chapter was chosen.
As a member and officer of the Clark County FFA, I have been able to witness firsthand the effects that our chapter has on its members and the surrounding community.
Through our many events and programs we have, it has given us the opportunity to compete for this prestigious award.
Every year our officer team takes a one-week retreat at the Kentucky FFA Leadership Training center, otherwise known as “FFA Camp.”
One thing that most people do not know is that our FFA chapter plans out the entire year during this week at camp, such as what events we would like to see happen and what month they would fall in.
Along with our calendar, we also design and vote on our local chapter shirt, which is given to all members when they pay their dues.
All of these leadership, team building, and workshop activities go into planning the events that make us a three-star chapter.
As we act out these events and activities we planned at camp, we have to submit reports about each and every event. This task is completed by our committee chairs who fill out said reports and file them in our online program.
Whether the event is our great Thanksgiving baskets or a trip to the Perfect North, there is always a report to be done.
The wonderful work of these executive team members is key to receiving a three-star award, as the committee reports are prominent in the judging process.
Our efforts lead to us getting to take a trip to Indianapolis every year for the FFA National Convention and Expo.
During our time there, members are allowed to shop and meet fellow FFA members from around the country.
At the end of the day, we gather in Lucas Oil Stadium for a session led by the national officers and awards are handed out.
It makes us swell with pride to see two of our officers walk the massive stage to receive a three-star national award.
This proves to whomever may take our places on the Clark County team next year that the hard work is worth it.
Throughout my four years in the Clark County FFA, I have been blessed to meet so many great people and take part in great events that our chapter has planned.
I have grown to understand why we received this award, not just because we can come up with some event ideas, but because of the hard work and dedication from our growing members and our executive team.
From the president to a freshman member, there is something for you to be involved in and succeed with in the Clark County FFA.
I am blessed to have been able to go on this journey with my peers in the Clark County FFA.
I am truly honored to be a part of this chapter and am beyond proud of my fellow members. The three- star chapter award is well deserved because of all of the hard work we have put in!
