Having your “last firsts” is something all seniors are experiencing this time of year, and for GRC students, the staff is working to make these final moments of high school unforgettable.
From caps and gowns to senior sunrise, the Senior Advisory team has provided all the information needed for students to prepare for their last year at GRC.
Speaking of caps and gowns, be sure and order yours as soon as possible.
They should arrive February 1st, so ordering them now is crucial if you want to have them in time for pictures! If you are worried about caps not fitting properly, reach out to Mr. Gash to get a larger one.
The counseling office has so many opportunities and materials for seniors to utilize. If you haven’t yet, be sure to join the counseling office Google Classroom.
College representatives are coming in for individual meetings with seniors that you can sign up for, and these meetings can assist you with numerous scholarship opportunities. Keep a look out for more information regarding these meetings in your Google Classroom.
On the topic of scholarships, make sure you stay updated with the information sent out to all seniors. If you weren’t present at the senior class meeting, see Mr. Little. He can provide insight on all the outlets you can use to get financial assistance.
“There’s money out there,” Mr. Little says. “There are so many scholarship opportunities and other options available to students.”
Applications are available to seniors in the 24-25 Google Classroom currently, and the sooner you fill them out the better your chances are. Local scholarships will be open after Christmas, and it’s highly recommended to participate in those because very few people ever apply.
He also recommends completing college apps by Dec. 1. As with everything else involving senior priorities, sooner is better than later.
One of the most important topics covered at the senior meeting was the Senior Advisory Council.
Mrs. Cecil talked about the importance of having a diverse and large council for the benefit of our graduating class. Anyone can be on the council. Just fill out the Google form posted in the classroom.
Life may be stressful right now, but it’s important to do as many things as possible while you have the chance.
“This is your all’s last year together, so be sure to take advantage and make your memories with the time you have left,” says Mrs. Newton.
As the clock counts down to our final minutes left together, be sure to involve yourself and make these last memories unforgettable.
Be present in the moments you were granted and be a part of something great!
