Today is the day, you have waited all week for this. You and all your best friends buckle up and head for the movies. You enter with your ticket excitedly in hand.
You are immediately hit by the comforting scent of salty popcorn. You find your seat and sit down eagerly. You anxiously wait for the previews to end.
Then all of a sudden the movie starts and that big smile you had on your face when you walked in slowly starts to fade, and the feeling of disappointment begins to take over.
The new era of horror/mystery movies hasn’t been great, but Trap was by far the worst of them all.
Trap has an immensely predictable storyline. This movie is about a serial killer who is a father. He takes his daughter to a dance not knowing it was created for his capture. Does this so-called “miraculous” serial killer escape?
Unfortunately I walked into the theater with friends and high hopes the day of release and walked out feeling underwhelmed and cheated, as it was definitely the worst $13.13 I have ever spent.
Don’t be fooled by the trailer; it will fill you with false hope and excitement. This movie was one hour and forty-five minutes of straight torture.
Though this movie is considered a horror/mystery film, I don’t believe there was a good portrayal of either throughout.
When I watch a mystery or horror movie, I like to be on the edge of my seat the whole time and be anticipating for something big to happen. I almost fell asleep watching this. There was no action in the movie at all and everything was predictable.
The actress who played “Lady Raven” was Saleka. She is the filmmaker’s daughter and this was the first film she was ever in. It should also be her last.
The actor who played the “The Butcher,” also known as Cooper Adams, was played by Josh Hartnett. You might have seen him in movies like Oppenheimer or Black Hawk Down. His acting made me expect to feel a warm embrace of his hug rather than the fear of him wanting to kidnap and kill me.
The ending to this movie didn’t make any sense. The slow, fluky plot, and awkward camera angles just ruin the ending of the moving, making it extremely boring and foretelling.
Doing research is very important before going to watch a movie.
From reading this review, I hope you look into what movie you are going to watch so you don’t waste as much time and money as I did.
