Clark County is rich with traditions that bring everyone in the community closer together. Thanks to Superintendent Dustin Howard, Clark County Public Schools now has a new tradition that honors past, present, and future contributors to our schools and community.
Friday’s Hall of Fame Bowl is in its second year, and besides featuring two football games and GRC’s first game of the season, the event allows for 10 outstanding members of the community to be recognized and inducted into the Clark County Public Schools Hall of Fame.
“We started the Hall of Fame in Clark County to really celebrate our past and to celebrate individuals who we want to recognize for their exemplary accomplishments either while attending Clark County schools or post graduation,” said Superintendent Dustin Howard.
The 10 inductees are chosen by an appointed committee of individuals from the community and school system, who pour through dozens of nominations made through an open process.
Based on their outstanding accomplishments in the school system and/or the community, the 2024 CCPS Hall of Fame Class is: Paul Columbia, Betty Curtis, Joe Gilliam, Jan Horn, Marty Jackson, Jackie McCloud, Martha Miller, Mike “Bear” Rogers, Harvie Spry, and Sandy Stults.
“I am excited about my induction as I was born and raised here in Clark County,” said Mrs. Horn. “It has been a blessing to be a student-athlete and now an employee in this small town.”
The Hall of Fame represents the best of Clark County and serves as a reminder that we are surrounded by great people within our community.
The people inducted into the Hall of Fame have left behind amazing legacies that influence our schools, our students, and our community.
“I hope I leave a legacy of always showing up for the kids of Clark County,” said Mike “Bear” Rogers. “We have some amazing kids and to be involved in their successes makes me so happy.”
The 2024 induction ceremony will take place in between the two football games Friday at Cardinal Stadium.
Past Hall of Fame members will be in attendance to commemorate the new group of inductees for their contribution to Clark County. Ticket sales will be cashless this year and will be sold on GoFan for $12 per person. Passes cannot be used, and students do not have free admission as these games are part of a special event.
“I want to encourage the entirety of our community to come out Friday night to celebrate our history, our present, and our future,” said Mr. Howard. “It’s opening night and I’m excited to high five and welcome everybody with big GO CARDS.”
