Imagine being a small child trick or treating on the one night that you’ve been looking forward to just to see a kid three times your age go up to the house you were about to go to and take all the candy left.
Trick or treating should be left up to smaller kids; it’s something for them to enjoy and look forward to when they are still young.
If you’re a high school student wanting to dress up, there’s no problem with that. However, leave the trick or treating part to the smaller kids that have been looking forward to the night for months.
Kids spend months finding what they want to be and collecting the stuff they need to perfectly complete their costumes.
When I was a kid, there wasn’t anything better than getting dressed and getting as much candy as I possibly could. When I saw kids much older than me, it would always make me mad because they would be getting as much candy as me.
That might just be me being a selfish kid wanting all the candy, but I’ve always seen a problem with adults and older teenagers trick or treating. It always seemed like something that should be left up to younger children for me so that they can be left with as much candy as possible.
On the other hand, I’ve never seen a problem with teens or adults wanting to dress up still. Dressing up as a family or with your friends should never be frowned upon because that would be taking the holiday away from everyone.
Just remember when you’re dressing up as an adult to match with your family or to do something fun with your friends that you should leave the trick or treating up to the kids that still are growing up and enjoying their younger ages.
