Sixty-eight teams battle until there is only one left standing. An event held every March, the one and only: NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
The 2016-17season is stacked with talented teams. Kansas, Baylor, Villanova, and North Carolina are some of the strongest teams this season has to offer. But the Kansas Jayhawks are the team to win it all.
Behind senior Frank Mason III, Kansas is the strongest team in the nation. Bill Self continues to keep Kansas as one of the top teams in the country like he has done for the 13 years he’s been there.
They also have an outstanding Freshman guard in Josh Jackson who averages 16 points and just under 7 rebounds per game. Kansas has the size and the back court to take home their fourth NCAA title.
Some teams are going to go into the tournament over-hyped like Gonzaga and Kentucky. Gonzaga is a good team but the problem is they don’t play anyone. They play in the West Coast Conference where there are no really other strong teams. The best team Gonzaga has played has been Florida, who is a strong team but there are certainly better out there.
Kentucky is a very talented team, but their inexperience is going to kill them. It shows when they get put on the big stage. It happened against UCLA, Kansas, Louisville and Florida.
There is almost no defense played by Kentucky, they would rather try to out-shoot teams, but that is very hard to do. And as of recently it looks like they’ve given up completely. Kentucky basketball was supposed to be fast and exciting, but all we are witnessing is poor defense and struggling scores. The basketball they play isn’t fun to watch anymore.
There are always the Cinderella teams that manage to capture the heart of fans as they try and do the unthinkable and win it all.
This year’s Cinderella teams will be Michigan State and Tennessee. Both teams have the possibility to go far if they play their best.
Michigan State at one time was ranked No. 12 in the nation. Tennessee has shown that they can be a top team when they play at their best. They are small but they play with a lot of heart, which will be dangerous going into the NCAA tournament.
Nonetheless, there is still so much basketball to play. It’s going to be interesting to see how it all ends because there are so many great teams this year.
As of now my pick to win it all is Kansas because they are the best, well-rounded team in the nation.
